As a fully automated system for the rapid detection of pathogens and resistance, the Vitek 2 system has become an indispensable part of virtually every medical laboratory in the world!

The system was acquired by the federal government in November 2013 and continuously inspected and maintained in accordance with the maintenance contract. The last inspection and maintenance was carried out until August 2023. At the end of 2022, the device was taken out of service in working order due to a new purchase.

All components are in top optical and technical condition, with no significant damage. Minor scratches and discoloration on the housing are due to normal operation and do not limit its use in any way.

The system is used for the microbiological identification of pathogens of animal origin.
It enables rapid and accurate antibiotic susceptibility testing and resistance detection. The automated system performs same-day susceptibility testing (with results in as little as 5 hours, supported by clinical trial data). This significantly improves veterinary laboratory workflow and optimizes clinical veterinary microbiology.
The VITEK 2 system offers a comprehensive range of the most important susceptibility tests for veterinary diagnostics and is characterized by high performance and the ability to detect even low-level resistance and emerging resistance mechanisms (AmpC, ESBL, MBL, etc.).
The software is also updated annually to incorporate any taxonomy developments or policy changes.
The VITEK 2 disposable cards are sealed to prevent contamination during the bacterial suspension filling process.
