Horizontal Metal Band Saw with Swiveling Arm

This horizontal metal band saw with a swiveling arm allows cutting in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the material and at any angle between 0° and 60°. The drive from the electric motor to the wheel driving the saw blade is transmitted through a mechanical gearbox (not a belt drive). The saw blade is tensioned on two cast iron wheels using a manual tensioner and guided through a set of bearing-mounted rollers.

The material to be cut can be fed manually or with any mechanical feeding device, while the tool feed operates by gravity, based on oil flow in a dual-chamber hydraulic cylinder. The appropriate arm lowering speed is achieved using a valve that regulates the oil flow between the chambers. The blade guides are equipped with a set of bearing-mounted rollers, which significantly improve blade tracking, service life, straightness, cutting accuracy, and quality.

The arm, featuring a rigid design, is made of profiled cast iron. A control panel is mounted on the arm.

The base is built as a rigid welded steel sheet body. Inside, there is a separate coolant tank with an electric pump. The upper part of the base is shaped to form a tray for coolant drainage and chip collection during the cutting process. A cast iron worktable is mounted to the base, along with a swiveling arm and a control panel mounted on a separate arm. During the cutting process, the main cutting motion is the movement of the saw blade, while the feed motion is the downward movement of the arm. The arm lowering speed (cutting speed) is regulated by the hydraulic cylinder.

In the lower position of the arm (after the material is cut), the saw blade drive is automatically switched off. Safety is ensured by blade covers and micro-switches that stop the motor at the end of the cutting cycle or when any cover is opened. An additional safety feature automatically switches off the saw in the event of blade breakage.
