The tools mounted on the shafts are deliberately made from HX 500 material, as plastics cannot be hard-faced by welding. By optionally hard-facing the wear zones with hardfacing wire on the HX 500 discs, a surface hardness of 62 HRC is achieved. This provides optimal protection against wear and allows the tools to rotate powerfully in both directions, which is essential for processing cohesive materials. The ability to hard-face the tools reduces operating costs, since worn discs or shafts do not need to be replaced immediately.
