MERCEDES-BENZ 280 GE (GFG 460.2) lang Feuerwehr VRW *TÜV + H*

Original early fire service G-Class from second ownership, which has never been used for civilian purposes.

TÜV and H-certification (according to §23 StVZO) passed in September 2025.

Roadworthiness inspection (HU) valid until 09/2027 ("no defects found", approved by DEKRA).

Year of manufacture: 1981 / First registration: 07-1981.

Original mileage only 29,800 km. Used exclusively for fire service duty to date.

Rapid Intervention Vehicle (VRW) with ZIEGLER bodywork and Knurz-Kirsch generator with 5 kVA capacity.

German garage-kept vehicle, equipped with the original registration document (only 2 previous owners), continuously registered until autumn 2025.

Manufacturer stated in the original papers as GFG "Geländefahrzeug-Gesellschaft", then a joint venture between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria. This is one of the last vehicles produced under this manufacturer designation; shortly afterwards, "Daimler-Benz" was listed as the vehicle manufacturer in the registration papers.

In 1991, a complete MATTER roll cage was installed in the vehicle (properly recorded in the documents).

The long 280 GE is the largest and most powerful model of the first G-Class series that could be ordered ex-factory as a Mercedes G-Class in the early years.

The M110 inline six-cylinder petrol engine with 2,717 cc and 115 kW / 156 hp starts and runs well.

A power take-off is installed for operating the generator.

The last primary use was transporting a portable pump (TS) along with suction hoses and accessories. Therefore, there are no rear seats and a cargo area similar to a truck.

Unfortunately, no additional seats remain apart from the 2 front seats.

According to the original documents, this is a "3-seater" and the vehicle registration type is listed as "Other special-purpose vehicle, fire service rapid intervention vehicle (VRW)."

Unladen weight is specified as 2,360 kg.

Permissible total weight (originally 2,900 kg) was increased in 1991 to 3,030 kg as per the records.

Therefore, this 280 GE currently has a payload capacity of 670 kg.

Overall vehicle dimensions: Length 4,395 mm / Width 1,700 mm / Height 2,150 mm.

Tires: 205/80R16, in good condition.

Fitted with winter tires bearing the snowflake symbol in accordance with current legal requirements (DOT 2018).

The G does not have a tow hitch, but it is equipped with the necessary mounting bracket. Retrofitting/towing capacity information cannot be supplied, as the relevant fields for towing capacity in the original registration document are marked as "not applicable."

According to oral information from the last owner, the Mercedes is accident-free; however, this cannot be documented in writing and is therefore passed on to the buyer as an oral statement only.

The 280 GE was driven a considerable distance on the motorway to us and completed the journey without any issues.

A new battery has just been installed.

The off-road vehicle is immediately available and ready for new tasks.
